I USED to be a BIG proponent on cold calling.
I USED to preach that cold calling is NOT dead. But let's be real...................It is.......
In today's day & age. With the technology available, cold calling IS DEAD.
The idea of calling someone or a company by simply picking up the phone & hoping to sell them on THAT call or even get them to listen to you is simply stupid. It's a waste of time & money.
Now if it is a BIG company that you want to land, then yes. But you aren't calling this one company for 8 hrs a day. Day in and day out.
So why have your business development resources cold call, day in and day out?
Work Smarter. Not Harder.
Think of it this way:
How many unknown numbers call your mobile phone on a daily basis? Of those, how many do you actually answer? Better yet, how many do you actually call back?
It's not about the cold calling effort. It's more the process involved. There's too much technology & the way we do business that debunks this theory. And if the technology & resources are available, then why not use it?
I rather spend 8 hrs talking to actual buyers & decision makers because I took advantage of the technology available AND utilized my resources smarter, than by thinking it's some badge of honor to make 300 calls a day.
Stop cold calling 8hrs a day. It's literally a waste of time. Save the actual cold call for that ONE company you really want to get into. Because you know it takes A LOT of time to get in the door. In the meantime, get more wins faster.
